The Black Friday magic trick
Oct 18, 2026
Here's how it works. Take a hoodie that sells for £25 all year. Put the price up to £35 for a few weeks. Then, on Black Friday, "slash" it back to £25 and call it a deal. Add a big red timer telling people to buy right now or miss out forever.
The customer feels like they've won. In reality, they've paid exactly what they would have paid any other day, just with more stress and a 4am alarm.
It isn't a sale. It's a show. We'd rather not be part of it.
Introducing Purple Friday
At Print Press, we do things differently. Instead of one frantic day of discounts, we keep our best prices on everything, every single day. That's 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
We call it Purple Friday. It started on a Friday. It's still going. It isn't stopping.
But "low prices all year" is easy to say. So here's exactly how we do it, and why it doesn't mean cutting corners.
1. Smaller means sharper
We're not a giant faceless print factory with layers of management, a glossy head office and a marketing budget the size of a small country. We're a smaller, focused business, and that's our advantage.
Lower overheads mean we don't have to pad our prices to pay for things that don't make your T-shirt any better. Every pound you spend goes into the product, not into the bureaucracy behind it. And because we're small, you deal with people who actually know your order, not a ticket number.
2. Smarter, up-to-date technology
We've invested in modern, up-to-date print technology [add your kit here, e.g. direct-to-garment, DTF or screen printing equipment]. Newer machines do three things for you:
- Better quality. Sharper detail, richer colours and prints that last wash after wash.
- Less waste. Precise ink use and accurate placement mean fewer misprints and less material thrown away.
- Lower cost per item. Faster, more reliable machines cost less to run per garment, and we pass that saving straight on to you.
Older setups often need more labour, more ink and more do-overs. Somebody pays for all that, and it's usually the customer.
3. A production system built for efficiency
Great machines are only half the story. How the work flows through the shop matters just as much.
We've built a streamlined production system from order to dispatch. Designs are checked and prepared properly before they reach the printer. Jobs are scheduled to keep machines running smoothly rather than stopping and starting. Quality checks happen at every stage, so problems are caught early, not after 200 shirts are already printed.
The result is fewer mistakes, faster turnaround and less wasted time and stock. Efficiency isn't about rushing; it's about doing it right the first time. That's what keeps prices low without lowering standards.
4. Highly trained people
Technology doesn't run itself. Our team is trained to a high level on every stage of the process: preparing artwork, setting up and maintaining equipment, printing, finishing and quality control.
Well-trained people work faster and make fewer errors. They know how to get the best out of each fabric and each design, and they spot issues before they become problems. You get a better product, and we avoid the costly reprints that push other companies' prices up.
5. In-house, degree-qualified designers
This is the bit we're most proud of. Our designers are degree-qualified and work in-house, right alongside our production team.
Why does that matter?
- No outsourcing mark-up. Many printers send design work to agencies or freelancers and add a margin on top. We don't.
- Designs made for print. Our designers know exactly how artwork will look on fabric, so colours, sizing and detail are right from the start.
- Faster changes. Need a tweak? It's a conversation across the room, not an email chain that takes days.
- Professional results. Whether it's your logo, a team kit or a one-off design, you get proper design skill, not a template with your name dropped in.
Put it all together
Smaller and leaner. Smarter tech. An efficient production system. Highly trained staff. In-house professional designers.
Each of those saves money on its own. Together, they let us deliver very high quality at a lower price, every day, without needing to inflate prices in October just to "slash" them in November.
That's Purple Friday. It's not a gimmick. It's just how we're built.
What Purple Friday means for you
- No fake "was" prices. The price you see is the price we're proud of, all year.
- No countdowns. Order in November, March or at 3am on a Tuesday. Same great price.
- No panic buying. Take your time, get your design right, and order when you're ready.
- No waiting for a sale. Need custom clothing for a team, an event or a business next week? You don't have to hold out for a special date.
So, what should you do this Black Friday?
Whatever you like. Have a cup of tea. Ignore the emails. And whenever you need custom printed clothing, whether that's this Friday or next July, head to printpress.clothing. Purple Friday will be waiting.
Happy Purple Friday. It's always Purple Friday.
